The Air Company «Aeroflot – Nord» makes direct flights from Arkhangelsk to Moscow (the flight lasts for 1 hour 40 min.), to Saint-Petersburg (1 hour 40 min.), Petrozavodsk, Murmansk, Naryan-Mar, Anapa, Sochi, Simpheropol, Tromso (Norway) and other. On the routes map of the Company there are more than 60 destination places. The Company also makes charter flights to Turkey, Egypt, Spain, and Finland. The flights are made aboard the TU-154 and Boeing 737.

BY TRAIN
Direct railway lines connect Arkhangelsk and Moscow (the trip lasts 21 hour, the route length is 1134 km), Saint-Petersburg ( 23 hours, 1126 km), Murmansk (32 hours). The railway line connects Arkhangelsk and Syktyvkar, Vorkuta, Salekhard via the station «Kotlas-City».

BY CAR
One can reach Arkhangelsk by the federal highway M-8 «Moscow-Arkhangelsk» by car. The route of 1271 km long starts in Moscow and follows across the territories of the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vologda and Arkhangelsk Regions. The bigger part of it is covered with asphalt and concrete and is 7-8 m wide.
The route runs through forests and marshes. The climatic conditions are also diverse: from the moderate continental at the beginning of it (the average January temperature is 10° below zero) to continental on the Arkhangelsk Region territory (the average January temperature is 18° below zero). From the end of August till November cloudy day with frequent mists predominate. From November till the middle of April the snow is permanent with frequent snow storms and snow drifts on the road.
Some parts of the highway are dangerous; steep downs and rises (near the 101st km, 109th km, 114th km, 248th km) demand special attention of the drivers; there are some sharp turns (near the 205th km, 207th km, 279th km, 469th km, 641st km, 720th km, 807th km, 850th km) and places with limited visibility (near the 103d km, 316th km, 711th km).
The highway crosses some wide rivers – the Volga (near the city of Yaroslavl), the Vologda (near the city of Vologda), the Sukhnona (near the settlement of Sloboda), the Vel (near the town of Velsk), the Led (near the settlement of Odintsovskaya), the Yemtsa (near the settlement of Yemtsa). Bridges of more than 50 m long have the cargo capacity of 60-100 tons. In some places the highway runs along dams – at the 1057th km (the dam is 1.6 km long), at the 1062 (0.5 km), the 1104 (0.5 km).
State Automobile Inspectors’ points are situated at the 32d km. 46th km, 79th km, 126th km, 235th km, 726th km, 975th km, 1217th km. Cafes along the highway are at the average of 40-50 km from each other.
