Koryazhma
The town of Koryzhma is situated in the south-east of the Dvina River valley, 35 km of the Vychgda River mouth, on the River’s left bank, nearby there is a railway station of Nizovka on the Kotlas – Mikun line, the town of Kotlas is 40 km to the east of it. Koryazhma is connected with Region centre by railway and highway. The distance from the centre of Koryzhma to the nearest railway station is 8 km. The town covers the area of more than 5 thousand hectares.
According to the All-Russia general census of the population of 2002, the permanently living population in Koryazhma is 42.8 thousand people. Special industries for the municipality are the pulp and paper, chemical and building materials productions. Since 1985 to the present day the Kotlas Pulp and Paper Plant has been the town’s main industrial enterprise on which the town life highly depends (Since 1992 it is a Public Company «The Kotlassky Pulp and Paper Combinate»).
