 |  | THE KOTLAS CITY DRAMA THEATRE
The Kotlas Drama Theatre is one of the few provincial theatres which have survived at the time of reforms (the 1990s) in Russia. Its history is rich in events and instructive.

 |  | THE KOTLAS MUSEUM OF LOCAL HISTORY
The Museum collection includes more than 12 thousand of items. Paintings, graphic works, objects of applied art, ethnographic and numismatic items fully enough depict the history of the town and the Kotlassky District from the ancient times to our days – history of revolutionary movement in the North, the Civil and the Great Patriotic Wars, stages of rapid growth of economy of the area in the years of Soviet Power. |

 |  | THE SOLVYCHEGODSK HISTORY AND ARTS MUSEUM
The Museum was founded in 1919; it is housed in the Blagoveshchensky (The Annunciation) Cathedral, the Stroganovs Family church. The Museum collection is about 6 thousand of items. The Museum is proud of the unique old Russian paintings of the 16th - 17th centuries – (icons of «the Stroganovs’ School»), of gimped embroidery, of decorative and applied arts of the 17th - 18th centuries, of ethnographic and household items, of documents on history of the land.

 |  | THE KOTLAS CRAFTS HOUSE
Traditional crafts of the Russian North – birch-bark plaiting, wood carving, weaving, dough figurines making are taught here. The exhibition and the sale are permanently opened. |

The legend says the Stroganovs grew river pearls in it to decorate icons and church books. |

One can see some remains of technical devices of the Middle Ages salt – works. |

 |  | THE «SOLVYCHEGODSK» SANATORIUM
The balneological resort was opened in 1922; it is one of the best resorts in the North. It is situated on the bank of the Vychegda River among pine forests and sandy beaches. For curing patients the bromine, the chloride-sulphate-sodium hydro-sulfuric mineral waters are used , as well the silt mud. For more details... |

 |  | THE BLAGOVESHCHENSKY (The Annunciation) CATHEDRAL
The five-dome Cathedral, the Stroganovs family church, is a grand monument of the Russian white stone architecture of the 16th century on a federal level. The interior decorations were made by the masters of the Oruzheinaya Palata. The walls inside are decorated with frescoes of the time of Boris Godunov’s rule, and the iconostasis belongs to the 17th century, its icons are of the»Stroganov’s School». An exposition of the ancient Russian Arts of the 16th - 17th centuries is opened in the Cathedral. From the Cathedral’s bell-tower one can see a wonderful panorama of the neighbourhood. The family burial place of the Stroganovs and 28 grave-stones of the 16th - 17th centuries have survived. |

 |  | THE CATHEDRAL OF THE VVEDENSKY ( The Presentation in the Temple) MONASTERY
The five-dome Cathedral of the Vvedensky Monastrey, a great monument of the Russian baroque style of the 17th century, was built by the order of Grigory Stroganov, a dignitary and a patron of art, an adherent of new worldly form of art. A large-size impressive seven-tier iconostasis has survived to our days; the icons belong to the «Stroganov’s School». |

The monument of architecture on a local level is 30 km from Kotlas consists of a sacred water spring and two cult buildings: wooden churches – the Bogoyavlenya Gospodnya (The Theophany) Church (1780) and the Uspenia Bozhiyei Materi (the Assumption of the Birth-Giver of God) Church (1815). |
